Intelligent Telematics, a global integrated camera tracking solution provider, has launched the most sophisticated vehicle camera solution to help fleet owners reduce costs, enhance safety and protect against fraudulent insurance claims. The IT 1000 is an all-in-one solution that includes GPS tracking, a live HD video feed, 3G connectivity and an accelerometer.

The solution combines video, telematics and 3/4G technologies to capture and transmit footage of accidents and other harsh driving events in real-time, with unrivalled accuracy and camera technology that is sixteen times more powerful than any other solution available in the marketplace.

Intelligent Telematics operations director Craig Lovell says this is an ideal solution for security, insurance fraud avoidance and driver tracking. "Unlike other vehicle cameras that only record to an in-device SD card, the IT 1000 transmits footage of accidents and near misses via a secure 3/4G private network to a web-based interface with real-time email and SMS alerts."

He says a triggered event can be viewed within minutes of it occurring. "This enables operators to respond quickly to issues and report claims, while insurers receive first notification of loss to minimise any financial impact."

Compared to an industry standard of just one capture per second, the IT 1000 camera captures GPS data at 10 times per second. This helps calculate the most accurate impact speed while the internal 3-Axis G-Force sensor, including auto-calibration, enables visibility of driving styles and behaviour.

The next-generation IT 1000 device has been developed in partnership with leading camera specialists, thereby manufacturing vehicle cameras to possess the industry recognised ISO 9001:2008 certification, ensuring high levels of reliability and resilience.

More importantly, the camera technology is housed in self-contained case making it tamper-proof and resistant to extreme temperatures to minimise failure rates.

“Our latest camera will not only reduce the severity and frequency of vehicle fleet insurance claims by enabling operators to respond quickly and effectively to accidents, but also help modify driving styles and minimise potential risk,” he explains.

The IT 1000 vehicle camera solution provides a 24-hour monitoring solution that will become an important part of a fleet operators insurance and duty of care strategies. The web interface provides basic data viewing as well as real-time tracking and analysed data points for later viewing.

“Every tracking system is essentially a black box that has GPS to provide location and speed, along with an accelerometer that can record movement in three axis,” says Lovell.

“We have subsequently delivered an all-in-one solution that combines all the benefits of a forward-facing camera and vehicle tracking simply and cost-effectively. Protect, monitor and manage your vehicle for less than R17 a day. Package includes IT 1000 camera, professional installation, data/airtime, 2 year warranty and access via a vehicle tracking website,” he concludes.
