Earlier this week an alleged specs leak took place for Dell's upcoming Alienware M11X R3 ultraportable gaming notebooks. The range will be the third iteration of the M11X series.

The Alienware brand itself has been gaining steam locally over the past year, and while we in South Africa may not be exactly up to date as far as releases are concerned, it's still fun to drool over what's coming.

On that note, the new range will feature the same redesigned exterior as the current R2 notebooks, with the most major new addition being the new Intel Sandy Bridge processors, Dell News and More reports.

The compact 11.6” notebooks will be available in a number of different guises, with an Intel Core i5 and two Core i7 models being manufactured. Users will also now be able to include up to 8 GB of DDR3 RAM in the R3, and larger hard drive options (up to 750 GB) is also available in addition to a 256 GB SSD option.

As far as connectivity goes 3G LTE and WiMax 4G will be supported, and the notebooks will be available in either red or black, with Alienware's custom designs found throughout.

The biggest question on the minds of any gamer is undoubtedly what kind of GPU the new range will support, and this is unfortunately also the only detail still missing. It's likely that switchable graphics options will be found again, the question is whether Dell will run with Nvidia or AMD.
