Word's out that the Apple iPad is at long last reaching South African shores. Core Group, official distributor of Apple products in SA, has announced the availability of the device in a number of retail outlets starting tomorrow (28 January 2011).

The news about the SA release comes exactly a year after the iPad was first announced by Apple CEO Steve Jobs, currently on medical leave.

The iPad, with Wi-Fi only, will retail for R4399 for the 16 GB version, R5399 for 32 GB and R6399 for the 64 GB model.
As can be expected the iPad with both Wi-Fi and 3G will retail for a bit more, coming in at R5599, R6599 and R7599 for the 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB version respectively.
