FF XIV to debut at E3
 
According to Quick-Jump Network Japanese games developer and publisher Square Enix will be showcasing the follow-up to Final Fantasy XIII at this year's E3 gaming expo. In addition the company will be bringing Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and Deus Ex: Human Revolution to the expo. 
 
“We will be showing a truly diverse range of games at E3 this year which illustrate the strength and breadth in our product portfolio,” said Phil Rogers, Square Enix Europe CEO. “Individually each game offers something original and exciting to make its own impact at the show and collectively our line-up characterizes the global ambition of Square Enix.”
 
Super Mario Galaxy 2 launches in SA
 
Mario takes to Nintendo Wii consoles all over the country today with the launch of Super Mario Galaxy 2, which is one of our games to watch out for in Q2. The game lets you take control of the legendary game character Mario as he travels around a host of worlds. For the first time gamers will  be able to hop on Yoshi’s back, allowing the plumber’s friend to aid him on his quests though the game's levels. Gamers will also be able to choose to play as Mario or his brother Luigi in the later stages of the game.
 
New Mortal Kombat in development
 
Warner Bros has announced that a new Mortal Kombat game is currently in development for the Xbox 360 as well as the PlayStation 3. This latest instalment of the popular series is set to hit both consoles in 2011 and according to Warner Bros. will be the “most brutal instalment” yet, after the rather more toned-down Mortal Combat vs. DC Universe.
 
FIFA 11 showing plenty of promise
 
The gaming news website IGN is one of the first companies to catch a glimpse of EA Sports’ newest football title, which boasts some exciting new features. One of these is improved player physiques, which have been remodelled, translating into more believable character models. While FIFA X had three different body types, FIFA 11 has nine. Also adding to the believability of the virtual players is a new feature set called Personality + which, amongst other things, sees younger players being more nimble footed and faster than their ageing counterparts. We can’t wait to get our hands on it when it comes out later in the year.
 
Red Faction: Armageddon coming in 2011
 
THQ Inc. announced on Monday that the next title in the Red Faction series is currently in development at their internal studio Volition, Inc. and will be hitting the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in March 2011. According to THQ, the game will utilise Volition’s Geo-Mod 2.0 technology, in order to bring “never-before-seen physics-based weaponry that redefines gameplay in the shooter genre.”
