Good news for Assassin’s Creed fans: the third installment is coming towards the end of October.

According to Wired.com, Ubisoft chief executive officer Yves Guillemot touted the forthcoming sequel as having the honour of being “the biggest launch in Ubisoft history” in an investor call.

Guillemot added that Assassin’s Creed 3 will feature a new protagonist, while bringing the story from Assassin’s Creed 1 and 2 to a culmination.

What the company did not reveal as yet though, is where exactly the game will be set. Speculation is rife that it could be anywhere, including Ancient Egypt (yes please!) to the American Revolution.

The game will be available on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. We suspect it will be, if not the biggest, then certainly one of the predominant titles that kicks off the typically stellar November and December gaming line-up.

PlayStation 4 rumoured to have AMD heart

According to Forbes magazine, Sony’s PlayStation 4 will also eschew Nvidia’s graphics processing technology as found in the PlayStation 3, in favour of AMD’s.

The report further asserts that an as yet unannounced new gaming console is indeed in the works. This, despite the fact that Sony made it abundantly clear that it would not be announcing news about the PlayStation 4 at this year’s Electronics Entertainment Expo.

Unfortunately, the report offers scant details to justify why Sony would make the switch - especially considering the fact that the PlayStation 3 is still aging gracefully, while developers are still managing to squeeze more power out of it.

However, it does leave us wondering whether Sony might have something else up its game loving sleeve besides from launching the PlayStation Vita and refuting claims that the PlayStation 4 is imminent.
