Garmin has announced a new edition to their Forerunner range, the Forerunner 110 running watch, which is a GPS watch for runners and joggers.

The Forerunner 110 displays useful info such as time and distance, as well as your pace over your current lap or over the duration of your run. When it is paired with Garmin’s heart rate monitor it will also be able to display your heart rate data and can perform heart rate-based calorie computations.

It is water-resistant and according to Garmin can last for up to eight hours in GPS/training mode and up to three weeks in power-save mode. Users can also employ Garmin Connect to log their runs, track totals, set goals and share their workout routines with their friends and family.

Garmin’s Forerunner 110 is available from Sportsman’s Warehouse and Cape Union Mart at a recommended retail price of R2 200.

“Forerunner 110 fulfils the needs of runners of all levels by focusing on simplicity and ease of use, without sacrificing accuracy,” explained Michelle Letcher, head of fitness for Garmin Distribution Africa. “The new Forerunner 110 is designed specifically for runners to simplify and streamline their training. Equipped with a high-sensitivity GPS receiver and Garmin’s HotFix technology to quickly acquire and sustain satellite reception, the Forerunner 110 will give you the most essential real-time workout data quickly and easily.”
