It wasn’t only us that was impressed by the unconventional styling of Lexmark’s trendy Genesis S815 all-in-one (AIO), as this printer has won a Red Dot award for its excellent design quality.

The Red Dot Design Awards is a product design competition that has existed since 1955. The Awards are judged by an international panel of experts based on a set of criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, quality and durability.

Lexmark’s Genesis S815 was the winner in the Computer and Information Technology category. Competition was fierce as a total of over 4400 products were entered for review from 1700 companies across 60 different countries from across the globe.

The Genesis S815 is an AIO inkjet printer that allows users to copy, scan, fax and email, and boasts an innovative vertical design that translates to winning back some desk real estate. It can also scan documents faster thanks to its 10 megapixel Mono CMOS Image Sensor.

In our review of the Genesis S815 we stated: “As far as styling is concerned the S815 is one of the best looking AIOs we’ve ever encountered. Granted it does not take a lot to beat the rest of the pack, but you can see that Lexmark pushed the boundaries, with the S815 flagship providing ample evidence of Lexmark’s resurgence.”

“The red dot is a well-known and highly-prized design award,” said Mark Hiller, general manager at Lexmark South Africa. “Recognition by the expert jury shows that Genesis is an outstanding product, not only in regards to its innovative technology but also its leading edge design.”
