A group of Pakistani citizens that are still upset over the “blasphemous” depictions of the Prophet Mohammed that appeared on Facebook, has launched their own spin-off to the world’s most popular social networking site. With MillatFacebook (MFB) they're hoping to provide an alternative to Facebook to connect the world’s 1.57 billion Muslims.

According to AFP, six young IT professionals from Lahore launched MFB last week, creating the site for Muslims and “Sweet people from other religions” to be able to connect online and voice their disapproval over the Everybody draw Muhammad Day! group on Facebook. The founding group wants to provide users with the same type of functionality that they would find on Facebook, including a “wall” for MFB friends to leave comments on, plus email, photo, video and chat functionality.

“We want to tell Facebook people if they mess with us they have to face the consequences,” said Usman Zaheer (24), the chief operating officer of the software house that hosts MillatFacebook. “If someone commits blasphemy against our Prophet Mohammed then we will become his competitor and give him immense business loss.”
