Despite the fact that Nokia is expected to reveal its first Windows Phone Mango-powered smartphone at Nokia World 2011 later this month in London, the Finnish phone giant has introduced its latest member of the Symbian Belle-operating smartphone range.

During a media event in Turkey the company unveiled its Nokia 603 (promo video posted below), which like the Nokia 600, 700 and 701 runs on the latest, forthcoming iteration of the company’s Symbian mobile operating system.

Powered by a 1 GHz single-core processor (make not specified), the Nokia 603 also boasts Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi IEEE802.11 and 3G HSDPA connectivity offering downloads speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps. It also sports a 3.5" (360 x 640 pixels) ClearBlack display under toughened glass to ensure that the touchscreen is visible even in bright sunlight, and 2 GB of onboard storage that can be boosted with the use of a microSD memory card (up to 32 GB sized cards supported).

Nokia’s 603 measures in at a grip-friendly 113.5 x 57.1 x 12.7 mm and weighs 106.9 g. According to Nokia the battery will be good for an impressive seven hours talktime and 460 hours in standby.

Also onboard is a 5 MP camera which can capture HD-ready (720p) videos at 30 frames per second, as well as photo and video editing software enabling users to edit their pics and videos before uploading them to YouTube, Twitter or Facebook. The Nokia 603 is also the seventh Nokia device to offer NFC (near-field communication), allowing users to easy share their photos, videos, contact details and the like via one-tap pairing.

A number of pre-installed apps will also be included with the new phone such as Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, a YouTube app, as well as productivity apps including Microsoft Office Communicator, Quick Office, an Adobe PDF reader and Vlingo.

Nokia stated that the 603 will ship in Q4 2011, but no local release info is available yet.

In related news Nokia also recently revealed that its Ovi Store will be changing its name to Nokia Store and that its app store will become simpler to use.
