SanDisk has announced four new memory cards that are aimed specifically at gamers who own portable gaming systems. Three of these are for Sony’s PSP gaming systems, while the fourth is for use with the Nintendo DSi.

The SanDisk Memory Stick Micro M2 card is compatible with the Sony PSP Go and is available in capacities ranging from 2 GB to 16 GB, with the prices starting at R140 (2 GB) all the way to R1 180 (16 GB). SanDisk's Memory Stick PRO Duo and Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo cards are compatible with the Sony PSP-3000 as well as the PSP-2000. The Memory Stick PRO Duo card is shipping worldwide now in capacities ranging from 2GB to 32 GB, whilst the SanDisk Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo card will be shipping globally in October. Pricing will be determined by retailers.
 
SanDisk also unveiled their SDHC card for the Nintendo DSi, which boasts up to 8 GB of removable memory. It allows gamers to transfer their photos between their Nintendo DSi system and their PC. Gamers can also load the card with their favourite tunes (in AAC format) and listen to them on their DSi system. The SDHC card comes in 2 GB (R100), 4 GB (R160), 8 GB (R300) and 16 GB (R600) capacities.
 
“Many of the new portable gaming systems offer substantial downloadable content for gamers to enjoy, and our gaming memory cards give consumers the added storage capacity they need,” said Tim Sutton, product marketing manager of gaming at SanDisk. “Downloadable games for the PSP system can consume more than 700 megabytes (MB) of memory each, not to mention the large file sizes of movies and TV shows which boost demand for expandable storage.”
