Capcom has announced that Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is in development for the Sony’s PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) and will be a launch title for the portable console’s December release in Japan. Sony recently announced that the PS Vita handheld will be launched on the 22nd of February throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East as well as Australasia.

The Marvel vs. Capcom series of fighting games has appeared on a number of console platforms, but Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds was the first new title in this fighting range for 11 years. It generated strong sales with a worldwide shipment figures of more than two million units.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which is also in development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, is based on Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but introduces 12 new characters as well as an online spectator mode. Additionally the PS Vita version will feature both online and local multi-payer battles via the PlayStation Vita’s Wi-Fi capability.
 
Besides Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, the Japanese company is also working on versions of other major titles the likes of Street Fighter X Tekken for the PS Vita.
