Earlier today Sony finally unveiled its new handheld gaming system, arriving later this year to take on Nintendo's 3DS. The system is currently codenamed the NGP (next generation portable), with many assigning the simpler nickname of PSP2 to the device until Sony unveils the official name.

The devices specs, which can be viewed here, are impressive to say the least, and will purportedly be able to match the PlayStation 3 in graphical quality, opening the doors for developers to bring a lot more to handheld games of the near future.

Among the titles announced for the system was versions of the ever popular LittleBigPlanet, Killzone and Uncharted, the three dominant Sony exclusive titles on the PS3.

It was also revealed that popular first person shooter franchise Call of Duty would be receiving a NGP version, with Activision slated as one of the major third party publishers to release titles on the handheld.

Other upcoming games include Resistance, Wipeout, Monster Hunter Portable 3, Hot Shots Golf, Gravity Daze, Reality Fighters, Smart As, Broken, Little Deviants and Dynasty Warriors.

The NGP is set to take on the Nintendo 3DS’s recently announced titles, the likes of Mario Kart 3D, Super Street Fighter IV 3D, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Resident Evil 3D as well as Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid 3DS titles.
