Not a quite day at the beach

Publish date: 29 January 2009 by Kirsty Melville

Extreme racing is not just done by taxis on the William Nicol offramp. In MotorStorm: Pacific Rift we see it taking place through dense jungle, thick swamps and erupting volcanoes. It is just as challenging if not more than the desert surrounding found in the previous MotorStorm edition.

Pacific Rift offers you 16 courses on which to race. The tracks are expansive and offer  a large selection of vehicle categories (monster trucks! yeah!) and alternate routes that are concealed or not immediately evident.

It took us a while and a few spectacular crashes to get into the game, but once there we thoroughly enjoyed it. We thought the graphics were fantastic with volcanic clouds and dark lighting adding to the difficulty level. MotorStorm: Pacific Rift offers hours of thrilling game-play but mastering the controls takes time, as does staying on the path. Just like on the William Nicol your nerves will be tested.
