In a year of major movie releases, especially on the superhero front, Ant-Man and the Wasp is up against some, uhm, big competition. After watching the first trailer, we can’t help but think that this one won’t be one of Marvel’s strongest box-office showings.

What we loved about the Ant-Man movie was the irreverence and comedy it brought to the table. Perhaps it is just the way they edited the trailer but Ant-Man and the Wasp feels way too serious.

After the events of the first movie it was clear that Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) would get a female partner. The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly, The Hobbit) has wings and blasters, and together they must uncover some secrets of the past.

While that’s about as much as is known about the plot, we do catch a glimpse of what might be their big foe at 0:57 – Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen, Black Mirror). Dr. Bill Foster/Goliath (Laurence Fishburne) could also hold in some surprises for the duo.

Peyton Reed returns for directing duty, with the movie set to open on 3 August. Hit play below to see the small duo in some big action.
