Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) South Africa is set to bring the ROG Phone 6 gaming smartphone to South Africa. This is the first of the brand’s line of gaming-first mobile phones to launch in South Africa. Unfortunately, it’s only the ROG Phone 6 coming, and not also the ROG Phone 6 Pro.

If you have of R23k in the piggy bank, better act soon since this will only be available in a limited run, with pre-orders reserved via the official ASUS South Africa ecommerce store. If all goes well, you should have your phone by 16 December.

The base model that’ll be available in South Africa is powered by the latest flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform with up to 3.2 GHz CPU clock speeds, 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of storage, according to Asus.

They do not pull any punches when it comes to the screen, with visuals delivered by a 6.78” Samsung AMOLED HDR10+ display that uses ROG tuning technology to achieve a 165 Hz refresh rate, 720 Hz touch-sampling rate and a 23 ms ultra-low touch latency. A strong 6000 mAh battery capacity provides extended battery life for long game sessions.

The company has enhanced the control possibilities via the AirTrigger 6 system, offering ultrasonic sensor zones on the phone that can be customised to perform different functions. The sensors support various gestures, including new ones such as Dual Action, Press and Lift, and Gyroscope Aiming.

Asus notes the GameFX audio system on ROG Phone 6 features symmetrical seven-magnet dual speakers that fire forward for balanced stereo sound effects, with a 3.5 mm headphone jack also present, and sound optimised in collaboration with the Swedish digital audio pioneer Dirac.

Your camera game is also set to look strong, with the phone equipped with a triple-camera system featuring a flagship Sony IMX766 50 MP main wide-angle camera with improved image quality and HDR processing, an ultrawide 13 MP second camera, and a macro camera.

The ROG Phone 6 is available for pre-order (while stocks last) via the official ASUS South Africa ecommerce store. The current RRP is R22 999 and is only available in Phantom Black. Delivery should be in the region of 16 December, according to Asus South Africa.
