In a first for the South African market, Cell C is aiming to eliminate one of the hassles contract subscribers experience when trying to switch cellular providers, with the launch of a new Contract Buy-Out proposition. This service, running until 30 September 2015, will see Cell C provide potential customers with up to R10 000 in order to help them buy out their existing contracts with other service providers.

“So many South Africans are feeling trapped in long-term contracts by their providers that ask for extortionary cancellation fees for early termination. Cell C’s Contract Buy-Out proposition releases customers from those fees by offering to help buy themselves out of their existing contracts,” says Cell C CEO, Jose Dos Santos.

According to Cell C, Postpaid and TopUp customers can qualify for an amount of between R1 000 and R10 000, with the addition of a new handset, if they sign up for one of the company’s seven new EPIC plans. “All they [customers] have to do is visit one of our stores, take their latest up to date invoice and trade in their current handset to find out how much they qualify for,” adds Dos Santos.

Cell C notes that the new EPIC products, ranging from R69 per month through to the unlimited package at R999 per month, are all based on flexible value options, allowing customers to decide whether to spend their contract value on voice, data or SMS. Furthermore, these new packages offer an average discount of 30% on the subscription fees. For Example, customers can pay R129 per month and receive R200 value to use as they please on the EPIC 200 deal.

In addition to the Buy-Out proposition announcement, Cell C is also guaranteeing that customers signing up for the EPIC Contract packages will not be subject to any price increases for the duration of the contract. Current Cell C customers will be eligible to migrate to the new EPIC packages should they choose to switch from their current plans.
