ComiXology has given users a bit of a hassle over the last month, with many literally waking up one day a few weeks ago find they could no longer buy comics as in-app purchases on their iOS or Android devices.

ComiXology, they discovered, had ripped out the store section of its app, and instead, users had to purchase their comics from the online site, run through the usual credit card rigmarole and then synchronise their account from within the app on their device in order to read their purchases.

Perhaps as a bit of a mea culpa for the unwelcome surprise, ComiXology has now announced a new 20 day giveaway, offering up a free comic every day for the next three weeks (27th May to 16th June).

In order to take advantage of the sale, users need only visit the site, and log in with their account to complete the purchase. Although there is no indication of exactly which series or comics will fall within the ambit of the giveaway, users can elect to sign up for an email newsletter alerting them every day of the new free comic up for grabs; with today’s selection being Magnus: Robot Fighter #1.

It could also be a smart way of luring users to the site to of course, start or continue buying and even more importantly, keep returning.
