Well it was fun while it lasted. After three great seasons, Netflix has cancelled Daredevil, according to Deadline. The future of Marvel’s Netflix series are on very shaky ground right now, with Luke Cage and to a more understandable extent Iron Fist getting the chop. The Punisher and Jessica Jones are both still on track for another season on the streaming behemoth. Daredevil we thought, would at least get another season, after so successfully launching the Marvel series on Netflix and getting high praise for some quality television.

In a statement to Deadline from Netflix, the news seemed pretty much final. “Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix. We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note.”

But as one door closes, another one might open. Marvel is of course part of the Disney kingdom, with the House of Mouse planning to launch their own streaming platform, Disney+, as soon as next year. Can attorney Matt Murdock make a case for a reappearance on there? With the fan base that Daredevil has built up over the past few years, it does seem like a franchise that Disney would be stupid to let go of. Disney has already announced that Loki as well as Scarlet Witch will get their own series. Here’s hoping for the best.
