Following the recent resignation of Doug Woolley, Dell Technologies SA has confirmed that Habib Mahakian has been appointed as Vice President and Managing Director for the region.

This will be an expansion of his current role in the company, as VP for Emerging Markets.

Mahakian is known for his deep experience across the continent and strong customer focus, and, the company noted, further brings valuable insight into how AI, hybrid cloud, and secure infrastructure can drive real impact.

‘’At a time when AI and digital transformation are reshaping industries across South Africa, Dell is ideally positioned to support businesses on their journey to innovation and impact. I’m excited to lead our local teams in delivering AI-driven solutions that empower organizations to work smarter, more efficiently, and more sustainably,’’ he commented in a blog post.

Mahakian explained that in emerging economies like South Africa, technology isn’t just a nice-to-have - it’s the backbone of economic growth. ‘’And having worked with customers across Africa, I’ve seen first-hand how AI, hybrid cloud, edge, data management and secure infrastructure have become essential tools for driving business resilience and competitive advantage,’’ he elaborated.

The change comes in the wake of Dell Technologies significant push into readying business for the AI era, and another major shift it made in previous months, of rebranding its lineup of PCs.
