Apart from Wonder Woman, the past few DC releases have done little to inspire confidence. Can Aquaman buck the trend? The final trailer has now been released, which, combined with the previous trailers and footage, makes one wonder how much there is left for discovery in the film.

If you don’t know the plot yet, well it’s a typical hero’s journey. Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa, who was sorely missed in his absence from our local Comic Con) discovers he is Aquaman, the rightful heir to Atlantis, something that doesn’t quite strike his fancy. He is up against Orm (Patrick Wilson, The Conjuring), his half-brother, who currently rules Atlantis and wants to declare war on us humans. Can Aquaman claim the throne and unite what is above and below?

In the new trailer we also catch sight of Green Goblin, sorry, we mean Nuidis Vulko (Willem Dafoe, Spider-Man), Curry’s mentor, and Nicole Kidman (Eyes Wide Shut) as Atlanna, the Queen of Atlantis, who seems to be quite adept at taking names and kicking ass.

In our humble opinion, Aquaman doesn’t look too bad, and we would be happy to see DC upping their game and break their bad run. The movie opens 21 December in South Africa. Hit play below to see if Arthur Curry, can, well, curry your favour.
