Losing a parent is hard, especially so if you're a 12 year-old kid. This is the premise behind A Monster Calls. Once a fantasy novel by Patrick Ness, it is now a major motion picture set for release on 6 January next year in the UK.

The film adaptation is helmed by The Impossible's J.A Bayona, and enlists the voice talents of Liam Neeson (Taken franchise) to breathe life into the titular character. The monster’s manifestation comes about as Connor, played by newcomer Lewis MacDougall, deals with the loss of his mother (Felicity Jones) and the challenges he needs to face alone.

A mix of live action and beautiful animation, the trailer for A Monster Calls promises a film that could leave quite a mark. Click play and enjoy.
