Instagram is testing out a few things to improve the user experience of its creators. The latest experiment involves Instagram Stories, with the social media platform sending notification to a small batch of users when a person takes a screenshot from their Stories.

An alert has been circulating to let a select number of users know that the next time they capture a screenshot, the person who posted the story will be notified. It's a similar feature that rival app Snapchat has been employing for awhile now, and according to Instagram it's a means of improving the experience on the platform.

"We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you," noted the company in a statement to TechCrunch

Story creators whose screenshot is taken will not receive notification, however, but will be able to see a list of people that took screenshots in the list of their Story viewers.

Still in the test phase, it's unclear at this stage whether the feature will see a wider rollout, as Instagram likely awaits feedback from user engagement. People on the platform could want to take screenshots surreptitiously, so it should be interesting to see if the notification increases or decreases the amount of Stories that are watched.
