Marvel confirms 2017-slated Spidey film title as Spider-Man: HomecomingBy Robin-Leigh Chetty 13 April 2016 | Categories: news
Marvel has been busy this week. A few days ago it debuted new footage from Captain America: Civil War, which lands in SA on 27 April (Freedom Day). Now the company has detailed two of its other upcoming projects, Doctor Strange and Spider-Man. It's the latter which draws our focus, as Marvel Studios confirms the release date and title for the movie.
Using Twitter to break the news, the second reboot of Spider-Man will hit cinemas in the US on 7 July 2017, and is named Spider-Man: Homecoming. While definitive details are unclear, we know that Tom Holland (In the Heat of the Sea) will play Peter Parker, who we recently saw in costume for the second Civil War trailer.
Joining Holland is Marisa Tomei, who will be a far younger Aunt May than we are normally used to seeing. For now, the other casting decisions are unknown, as is the plot for the film. But guessing from the title, it will likely happen in Parker's High School, probably in his senior year. Until more news is forthcoming, make what you will of an interview with Holland at the premiere for Civil War below.
