If you're an avid Top Gear fan, then you'll no doubt be aware that Swedish company Koenigsegg make some seriously fast supercars. Their latest offering, the Regera, was debuted at the Geneva Auto Show in March and featured a whopping 1118 kW of power courtesy of its three electric motors and twin turbocharged V8. It can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in a reported 2.9 seconds, and climb to 400 km/h in 20 seconds. The carmaker has now shown a new feature in action, which does not pertain to speed but looks cool all the same - Autoskin.

Koenigsegg tweeted two videos showing Autoskin in action, which automatically raises and lifts every body panel on the Regera in true Transformers fashion. Sadly though, the real world applications for such a feature aren't abundantly evident. Instead, such a function would serve a better purpose on the racetrack, for mechanics and engineers to access every nook and cranny of the supercar.

That said, click play on the two Twitter videos below to see the Regera put Autoskin to work.
