PUMA believes change is a marathon, not a sprint, with each stride bringing them closer to our goal. With this in mind, the company is venturing towards sustainability, with its latest effort being RUN PUMA x FIRST MILE, a collection of sustainable running gear featuring pieces made from at least 47% recycled materials.

However, the company believes this is more than just an exercise of turning plastic into product. The collaboration PUMA has with First Mile is rooted in cooperative opportunity and human connection. First Mile works with waste collection communities in Taiwan, Haiti, and Honduras to create jobs and positive social impact. Indeed, these garments are manufactured from yarn made from post-consumer plastic, such as plastic bottles, collected in Taiwan. It’s not just about the recycling, there’s tech behind these too - dryCELL materials draw moisture away from the skin to keep you dry and comfortable, as one would hope from good running gear.

This is not the start of PUMA’s race towards a greener enterprise. It’s currently testing out a fully biodegradable version of its iconic SUEDE sneaker, while also producing a shoebox that is constructed from 95% recycled cardboard.
