Last night, the evening of Day Zero for Mobile World Congress, Samsung did not unveil a new Galaxy Smartphone, as it has done routinely in the past. Instead, the South Korean manufacturer unveiled a pair of tablets, the Galaxy Tab S3 and Galaxy Book, to the masses in Barcelona. Smartphones weren't missing entirely, however, as the company ended its press conference with a video announcing a Galaxy Unpacked event for 29 March.

The video hints at a different form factor, using the slogan 'Unbox Your Phone', along with featuring the silhouette of what looks to be a Galaxy S device with an edge-to-edge display. If true, it would confirm rumours that Samsung's next flagship, the Galaxy S8, is sporting such a design change.

As for the Galaxy Unpacked event, it is set to take place on 29 March in New York at 18:00 (SAST). The event will be live streamed on Samsung's Mobile homepage, and likely its YouTube channel too. We'll also be covering the event via Twitter. With more details about the device likely to appear, watch this space if you're interested in the Galaxy S8.
