Ah, a new season of football approaches, and with it the opportunity to rewrite all the wrongs of the past 12 months. While your favourite football team may not live up to your lofty expectations, the soon-to-be-released Fifa 16 from EA Sports presents gamers with a chance to do what their real-world teams fail to.

Illustrating that fact, is a new trailer courtesy of EA Sports. It begins with a cinematic overhead shot of the Allianz Arena (Bayern Munich's home ground for the uninitiated). Adding a bit more drama is Etta James' At Last, along with a series of close-up images of in-game players, as well as the new kits they'll be sporting.

What follows next is the usual EA Sports fare, with slow motion aerial duels, bicycle kicks and goals scored on the half volley. As such, it's clear that Fifa 16 is aiming to bring the same level of football gaming quality it has for the past decade or so. Fifa 16 releases on 22 September for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC, so get your thumbs well stretched and ready for action.
