If you don’t own a PS4 or PS3, you might be one of millions that have heard about the amazing story associated with Naughty Dog’s masterpiece The Last of Us (review), but could never experience it. While news about an Xbox or PC release isn’t on the cards, YouTuber Grant Voegtle offers something quite unique – a cinematic play-through series of the game.

With six out of an eventual seven episodes posted already, Voegtle’s videos range between 30 – 60 minutes each and view much like an episode of The Walking Dead. It includes the cinematic cut-scenes but also live in-game footage, which he notes is filmed and edited to look more like “a purposefully shot” film, and luckily less like a first attempt at playing a video game.

You just have to watch the first episode (posted below the trailer at the bottom) to realise that Naughty Dog created something special, keeping in mind that it’s Voegtle’s playing skills that help drive the experience. Apparently each episode is between 20 to 30 hours of work, with him playing through certain parts up to 100 times to make everything slots into place correctly.

Talking to The Verge, Voegtle notes, "I was hearing that people wanted to share the story of The Last of Us with their family, but they just didn't have the time to have them sit down and play the entire game. Hearing that and knowing that I could do that for people — that's been the most motivating thing so far to keep me working on it."

If you have a bit of time to spare over the weekend and need something to binge watch, you can do much worse than indulging yourself in the zombie-ridden world of The Last of Us. Check the play-through trailer below and then watch the gripping first episode right underneath.
