The Pixelbook is Google's latest 4-in-1 notebook offering
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 5 October 2017 | Categories: newsOf all the devices expected to be unveiled at last night's MadeByGoogle event, a new 4-in-1 notebook wasn't on many radars. This latest convertible notebook has been dubbed as a "performance Chromebook" by Google, and is the successor to the Pixel C, which garnered mixed reactions when released a couple years ago.
Key to the Pixelbook's experience, as far as last night's presentation went, will be its lightweight design and ability to be posed in a number of different modes for specific situations. Regarding the former, the Pixelbook tips the scale at 1.1 kg with a thin body that stands only 10.3 mm tall.
With Google touting a tablet mode for the Pixelbook, ensuring that it is as light as possible will help a lot when trying to use it in that mode. Along with the tablet mode are a display option which tilts the screen and places the keypad face down, as well as tent option for watching videos and lastly the standard notebook orientation.

Moving onto the specifications, the Pixelbook has a Quad HD 12.3" LCD display (2400x1600), which supports touch, and for $99 you can get the Pixelbook Pen stylus as well. Other elements include an option of either 7th Gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, along with 8 GB or 16 GB RAM options and 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB SSDs.
Pricing for the Pixelbook starts at $999, but like all the hardware on show last night, this notebook remains limited to a handful of countries, not including South Africa.
