Apple's WWDC 2018 developer conference is set to kick off in San Jose, California later today, but that has not stopped a set of screenshots surfacing for the company's latest version of macOS 10.14. The images come via developer Steve Troughton-Smith, who has a history of leaking Apple news early and is often right on the money, which means these details about the OS could well be the real thing.

As for what they entail, the screenshots include a handful of changes that Apple has introduced to macOS 10.14. There appears to be a new Dark mode for users that want to mix up the aesthetic of their current operating system, along with an Apple News icon in the dock. This likely means that an Apple News app will probably be present on the latest version of the OS.

Another possibility is the inclusion of preview videos in the Mac App Store, which is how Troughton-Smith got ahold of these pics and shared them with 9to5Mac. As such, a similar function to preview videos in the iOS App store will soon be making its way to the Mac equivalent.

We won't have to wait long to see if the screenshots are in fact true, with Apple's WWDC 2018 press conference set to start Stateside later this evening at 19:00 (SAST). Also on the cards for the event are detailed looks at the new version of iOS and hopefully a few welcome surprises.
