LG Electronics has debuted its most advanced range of OLED TVs in South Africa. An amalgamation of technology and premium design, the company’s new line-up of OLED models boasts incredible self-lit picture quality bolstered by image processing technologies, as well as an enhanced webOS platform experience and extensive personalisation features and services.

The line-up arrives as LG celebrates a decade of superior picture quality, having debuted its first-ever large-screen OLED TV back in 2013. Since then, LG TVs have evolved to not only meet the trends and expectations of users, but also lead the way in home entertainment with TVs that reset standards and push the limits of what’s possible. It’s innovation that sets LG apart from competitors and the reason why LG OLED TVs have been recognised at the CES Innovation Awards 11 consecutive times.

Unrivalled picture quality

The 2023 line-up of LG OLED TVs in South Africa includes the OLED evo C3, CS3, and G3 Series, upgraded models that offer impressive picture quality with higher brightness, colour accuracy and improved clarity. All LG OLED TVs boast bright and accurate colours with 100% volume and fidelity that can be seen in the brightest and darkest areas of any image. The result is a perfect black and original colour, the truest version of what’s on the screen.

Self-lit pixel technology demands more advanced processing capabilities than other TV technologies, which is why these LG OLED TVs come equipped with α9 AI Processor Gen6, the 6th generation of the company’s processor designed purposefully for OLED TVs.

Unlike other TV technologies, OLED is built with viewers’ well-being in mind. By emitting less blue light than other TVs, LG OLEDs offer viewers a comfortable way to watch for longer. The absence of flickers, made possible by the faster response time of OLED and the absence of backlights, also helps minimise eye strain, enabling viewers to watch for many hours and contributing to improved sleep.

The power of Innovation

Using the power of α9 AI Processor Gen6, LG deploys the most sophisticated AI-assisted technology and features to produce the best picture and audio quality. These features include AI Super Upscaling Pro, designed to upscale sub-4K sources and reduce picture noise, while preserving intentional film grain. OLED Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro breaks the image down into 20,000 zones (up from 5000 zones in previous TVs) for separate HDR optimisation. Object Enhancer helps sharpen foreground elements such as characters and objects, while HDR Expression Enhancer applies specific tone mapping to those elements.

A significant addition to the 2023 LG OLED evo G3 Series is LG’s Brightness Booster Max technology. Made possible with the Light Boosting Algorithm, Light Control Architecture and other refinements from α9 AI Processor Gen6, Brightness Booster Max enables OLED self-lit pixels to produce a picture up to 70% brighter than before.

But no picture is complete without sound, and LG’s advanced AI Sound Pro feature has that covered. By analysing audio signals and applying the appropriate settings, AI Sound Pro enhances viewers’ listening experience, delivering virtual 9.1.2 surround sound from LG OLED TVs’ built-in speaker systems. The result is that natural landscapes sound wilder, cheers from sports fans are livelier, and action in high-octane blockbusters is closer.

LG OLED TVs also feature the image and audio-enhancing capabilities of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Combined with the seamless integration with the latest LG soundbars, LG OLED TVs deliver outstanding multi-channel surround sound that envelops viewers and provides an immersive experience like no other.

Personalised viewing

TVs play an important role in our lives whether for entertainment, news, sports or education. That’s why, for 2023, LG has pushed personalisation to its limit with the latest version of webOS.

Featuring a redesigned All New Home user interface (UI), webOS features Quick Cards that provide users with easy access to their favourite content and services, organised according to logical categories, such as Home Office, Gaming, Sports, Music, and others. Recommendations based on viewing history and habits help personalise the experience even more, with LG OLED TVs learning about your preferences and tailoring the experience accordingly.

Game ready

The latest LG OLED TV models boast an impressive 0.1ms response time and low input lag, and are equipped with Game Optimiser, which allows players to instantly switch between gaming-related features such as genre pre-sets. Whether you’re a first-person shooter, arcade racer, or puzzle solver, LG OLED TVs are the perfect monitor to play your favourite video game titles.

These LG OLED TVs also support a wide range of features compliant with HDMI 2.1a and are the first TV models to be certified by the HDMI Organisation for the recently announced Quick Media Switching VRR (QMS-VRR), which eliminates the momentary black screen that occurs when users switch between source inputs.

These features and more are proof of what it takes to be the no. 1 OLED TV brand in the world. To discover the power of OLED and explore the full range of LG OLED TVs, visit www.lg.com/za/oled-tvs
