Apple announced yesterday that it has sold over 1.7 million iPhone 4s by 26 June, just three days after the launch of the latest device to come out of it’s stable.

The company sold its first million iPads in 28 days and the second million in less than 60 days after its launch, but the latest iPhone is breaking all of Cupertino’s sales records, after also setting a record for the most number of pre-orders received for the iPhone.

“This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply.”

The iPhone 4 is currently only available in the US, UK, France, Germany as well as Japan and will become available in another 18 countries by the end of July. These 18 countries being Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Vocadom is yet to confirm pricing and availability for the local market.
