Since Nintendo revealed the details behind its revolutionary 3DS portable console, the first gaming module not to require users to wear a headset in order to enjoy 3D playability, at the annual E3 expo in Los Angeles recently, fans and media alike have been keen to know what the company expects to charge for the device and compatible titles.

Despite this, Nintendo conveniently omitted device and gaming cost details during its keynote speech at E3.

Online retailer Amazon now has a number of Nintendo 3DS games listed, such as Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3DS, at a price of $34.99 (R262). In comparison most Nintendo DS and Sony PSP games rare available for between $29.99 and $39.99 internationally.

If Amazon’s prices prove correct it will indicate that Nintendo intends to sell 3DS games for roughly the same price as its two dimensional counterparts, which should boost the handheld’s popularity upon launch.

Nintendo DS titles are available at roughly the same pricing point locally.

The company is however remaining tight lipped regarding the pricing of the console itself, only revealing that it will make its way onto shelves before March 2011.
