Subscribers get a new handset every year for 1, 2, 3 or 4 years

Following the recent launch of six Straight Up packages for its postpaid and hybrid (Top-Up) customers, Cell C continues to shake-up the local mobile industry with its latest promotion.

This promotion offers clients five new contract packages, via which subscribers are guaranteed a new mobile phone every 12 months for the duration of their chosen (1, 2, 3 or 4 years) contract. This new promotion will run from 17 August 2012 up until 17 November 2012.

Cell C CEO Alan Knott-Craig stated that the value of this three month promotion does not only lie in the guaranteed new handset customers receive at the beginning of every contractual 12-month period, but also in the reduced rates.

Customers who sign up for any of the new contracts on promotion, benefit from the local mobile operator’s per second billing voice flat rate of 99c per minute. Additionally, clients are also offered reduced call rates to 50 international destinations, 25c for data (per MB), as well as 25c per SMS and MMS for the duration of their contract term.

Knott-Craig also noted that this is not a lock-in contract, meaning that if a clients selects the four year contract and need to opt out of it after the first-, second- or third year, they will be able to do so at no penalty. The contract packages will be available on postpaid and hybrid (Top Up), with subscribers being able to choose between a contract period of 12 months, 24 months, 36 months or 48 months.

“Each contract will include monthly airtime that can be used for voice, SMS, MMS or data – or any combination of these at rates, never-before-seen in the market. The same reduced rates will also apply for out-of-bundle voice, data, SMS and MMS usage,” concluded Knott-Craig.

In related news, competition amongst the local operators has started to heat up with Telkom-owned 8ta announcing its new prepaid offer, 8ta More, as well as Vodacom introducing a new Day-Night Double promotion deal.
