Graphite Kindle DX now shippingBy Tom Manners 8 July 2010 | Categories: news
Online retailer Amazon officially began shipping its graphite based Kindle DX today for a price of $379 (roughly R2 800) minus shipping costs.
According to Amazon the new model boasts a 50% performance in display contrast on its 9.7” eInk display while also featuring 3G support.
In addition, it also offers a week of battery life with wireless connectivity enabled and two weeks without, as well as PDF support, Twitter and Facebook compatibility, text-to-speech with the ability to display in both portrait and landscape mode.
It is currently unclear as to whether the graphite DX is shipping to local users. South Africa is however one of the over one hundred countries which Amazon supports for both Kindle sales and 3G compatibility.
Given Amazon’s recent Kindle price cut to $189, the graphite Kindle DX may be a little on the expensive side for most but does however incorporate a few useful features which the standard model lacks.
