HP today announced that it has acquired Hiflex Software, a German-based software solutions provider specialising in web-to-print and management information systems solutions for printing services (video posted below).

The PC and printer maker stated that technologies from Hiflex will enable it to continue to improve its imaging and printing offerings and will extend the company’s portfolio of cloud-based technologies and solutions.

The financial terms of this transaction were not disclosed. HP stated that Hiflex will continue to evolve its products and deliver service offerings to its current customers after the acquisition is completed.

“HP wants to break the traditional barriers of how and where business customers print, making it easy for them to produce custom or personalised materials anywhere, anytime,” said Vyomesh Joshi, executive vice president of HP's Imaging and Printing Group. “Hiflex’s technology provides a powerful platform to deliver on this goal as part of our overall cloud printing strategy.”

In related news HP’s CEO Meg Whitman recently laid out plans for getting HP “back on course” in the year ahead. These plans include a new focus on Windows tablets and continued research and development.
