Crytek, the famed game development studio behind Far Cry and the notoriously resource intensive Crysis, has generally been known to focus more on stellar single player experiences in its first person shooter titles.

However, according to Kotaku, Crytek's Korean studio is working on an entirely different shooter experience, this time aimed at multiplayer gameplay.

The title is called Warface and is a "near future" first person shooter that will be released for the PC. The game will be a fully online expererience with players doing battle in online combat as well as taking part in multiplayer co-op missions.

The game will run on the "free to play" model which allows players to download and play the game for absolutely free. Crytek will be making money back by giving players the choice of purchasing extra items or upgrades if they wish.

The game will run on the CryENGINE 3 technology, the same engine that is running the upcoming Crysis 2, set to be a graphical monster of a game. At this stage the game is slated only for Korean and "other Asian" markets, but we're hoping it will see the light of day in the rest of the world as well. No release date has been given yet.
