Nokia has launched two new mobile phones, the Nokia C2-01 and Nokia X2-01, with which the company is aiming to bring more functionality to budget mobile buyers.

According to Nokia, the pocket-friendly (109.8 x 46.9 x 15.3 mm, weighs 89 g) Nokia C2-01 is the Finnish manufacturer’s most inexpensive new 3G phone and is powered by the Symbian Series 40 operating system. It boasts a 2" screen, traditional keypad, music player, FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity and a 3.2 megapixel camera. This mobile phone can also accommodate memory cards up to 16 GB in size and comes with Nokia Messaging for email as well as instant messaging.

Nokia’s X2-01 comes with Nokia’s new Communities app which integrates Facebook (FB) and sports a full QWERTY keypad that users can employ to type text messages and update their FB statuses.

This reasonably compact (119.4 x 59.8 x 14.3 mm, weighs 107.5 g) device sports a 2.4" QVGA display, with users being able to see their friends’ FB status updates directly on their home-screen and update their own as well as upload photos from there as well. It also features a VGA camera on the back, one click access to music, a media player, FM radio and supports memory cards up to 8 GB in size, but doesn’t support Wi-Fi or 3G, only GPRS/EDGE data.

The C2-01 will be available from Q1 of 2011 in selected markets for an estimated retail price of around €70 (about R670), whilst the X2-01 will be available from this quarter for an expected retail price of around €80 (approx.
