What would you get if you crossed a Sony Ericsson smartphone, such as the Sony Ericsson Vivaz pro, and the PSP Go portable gaming console? Sony appears to have provided the answer in the form of its PlayStation phone. According to Engadget, this device will be heading to the market soon.

It is powered by 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 CPU and runs on Android 3.0 (codenamed Gingerbread). The device also boasts 512 MB of RAM, 1 GB of ROM, as well as a display in the range of 3.7" to 4.1".

The forthcoming handset also sports a long touchpad in the centre, which will apparently be used for multi-touch gesturing and the recognisable PlayStation shoulder buttons have also been included. It doesn’t sport Sony’s propriety memory stick slot though, but does offer support for microSD cards.

Engadget also stated that this particular model is still only a prototype and its mobile operating system still doesn’t make use of a custom skin like Sony Ericsson’s Timescape design as seen on the Xperia X10i. TechSmart will keep you posted as further details about the device emerges.
