Toshiba Computer Systems has introduced the Satellite C670 / C670D into its entry-level notebook range, boasting a larger display. These notebooks sport a 17.3" TruBrite LED HD+ display with a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels.

Intel or AMD power

The Satellite C670 runs on Intel’s Core i3 CPU and features integrated graphics (Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD), although users can opt for a dedicated graphics processing unit (GPU) instead in the form of a Nvidia GeForce 315M with 512 MB VRAM.

Users choosing the C670D will get a notebook equipped with AMD’s E-series CPU, with the graphical duties handled by an AMD Radeon HD 6310 GPU.

Other features

Both models operate on Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), have up to 8 GB DDR3 (1066 MHz) RAM, high capacity HDD offering storage space up to 750 GB, a multi-card reader, Ethernet LAN, as well as 802.11n WLAN.

The Toshiba models offer an ergonomic, flat keyboard with an integrated 10-digit numeric keypad, as well as a large touchpad with multi-touch controls. There’s an embedded web camera with Toshiba Face Recognition, enabling users to log-in without having to type in their passwords.

These notebooks also boast two USB 2.0 ports and Bluetooth 3.0 +HS interface that will enhance its data transfer rates. The latter allows for a data rate up to 24 Megabits per second, which is about eight times faster than Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR when paired with Bluetooth 3.0-enabled devices such as Nokia’s N8 and C7.

Availability

Users will be able to choose between two colour variations, as the Satellite C670 and the C670D will be available in either black, or black with a white finish on the LCD cover as well as the inside cover.

The Satellite C670 will be available from Mustek (011-237-1000) at a recommended retail price starting at R7 499 (incl. VAT) will be available from April 2011 in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
