As promised, Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) as well as Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 have been made available as a public download.

Microsoft developer network (MSDN) and TechNet subscribers as well as Volume License clients could already download the service packs as of the 16th of this month. Now, all users are able to download these via the Microsoft Download Center, with the company also rolling it out by way of Windows Update.

Besides the usual bug fixes and included updates (a lot of which has been made previously available via Windows Update), Windows 7 SP1 also contains client-side support for RemoteFX as well as Dynamic Memory.

According to Brandon LeBlanc, who runs Microsoft’s The Windows Blog, the majority of users will likely obtain SP1 via Windows Update. Novice PC users can follow the tips on Microsoft’s The Windows Blog, regarding the download and installation of SP1.
