If you’ve needed a bit more time for testing your app, or if you did not know about the competition in the first place, MTN Business, the headline sponsor of the 2013 MTN Business App of the Year Awards, says developers still have some time to enter their innovative mobile apps for the awards. The deadline for submissions has been extended to next Monday, 15 July 2013.

A reminder that Apps can be submitted in the following categories:

• Best Android app

• Best IOS app

• Best Blackberry app

• Best Windows app

• Most innovative app

• Best independent (garage) developer

An entry fee of R250 is charged per category. For more information, interested mobile developers can visit www.appoftheyear.co.za.

“We have had an influx of entries which demonstrates not only the level of interest that is out there, but more importantly the innovation and creativity that is emerging,” says Nomalanga Nkosi, GM: Business at MTN SA.

“Now in its second year, these Awards reflect the new way of doing business in the connected age through mobile technology and the innovative work that South African developers are doing to embrace this mobility.”

Eric Stokes from Business Connexion who won in the Best Android Enterprise Category last year agrees. “The MTN App of the Year Awards is a great initiative and gives both experienced and aspiring developers the opportunity to get recognition for the work they are doing. There are some awesome South African apps out there and I cannot wait to see what the guys bring this year,” he says.
