We’ve seen the Adios Pro 4 and Supernova Rise 2 released this year, and now Adidas has launched its new Boston model. The Adizero Boston 13 is the latest version of its long-standing performance running shoe. Originally launched in 1980, the Boston series has evolved over the decades and now enters its 13th iteration, aimed at runners seeking a lightweight trainer for faster-paced sessions. Indeed, Adidas positions the Boston 13 as the ideal training shoe for those who race in the Adizero Adios Pro 4 super-shoe.

Adidas states the Boston 13 incorporates several technical updates, including a 13.8% increase in Lightstrike Pro foam for added cushioning. The shoe also features a redesigned outsole with LIGHTTRAXION patterned construction, set to reduces weight while maintaining grip through targeted rubber placement. Comfort improvements include a more padded tongue and collar, following feedback of the previous model.

The shoe also retains key elements of the Adizero line such as ENERGYRODS 2.0 composite bars, designed to enhance running efficiency and energy return.

The new model debuts as part of a broader EQT (Equipment) collection that includes retro-styled apparel inspired by vintage Adidas gear from the early 1990s, including uniforms worn by Boston Marathon staff in 1991. The Boston 13 EQT edition will be released in a white and teal colourway, while the standard model will be available in aqua and lemon tones.

Both versions of the Adizero Boston 13 are priced at R3 299 and will be available from 5 May 2025, through Adidas retail stores, the company’s website, and the Adidas app. Additional colourways are expected to follow in June.
