South Africa might still be limited in terms of its streaming services, but offerings like Amazon Prime Video could prove very tempting when they do finally arrive. The streaming service is performing solidly in the US, with the creation of original content like Transparent and the newly acquired Top Gear show pushing its popularity. According to reports, Amazon is not only aiming to increase streaming of its content, but also use of its platform as well.

Sources at Bloomberg say Amazon is working on an option that allows users to subscribe to other streaming services, adding it to their existing Prime Video account and then placing their content libraries alongside one another. While the exact streaming services in the mix are unknown, Bloomberg believes that a major competitor is currently being courted, with an announcement set to happen as early as December already.

The move might be deemed risky by some, but rival service Hulu has already added a Showtime portion to its platform. As such, this move is more about getting people to stay on the Amazon Prime Video platform, instead of hopping from one streaming service to the next.
