The Paris Motor Show, currently open to the public until 16 October, showcased one trend in particular - all-electric vehicles. BMW in particular pushed its plans for EVs into the spotlight, and has a number of cars ready to hit the road by 2019. According to Bloomberg, the Bavarian carmaker is planning all-electric versions of its X3 SUV, along with battery-powered models for a handful of MINI's too.

Whether or not these will be entirely new designs, or simply current models with new electric engines remains to be seen, but the future certainly looks battery powered for BMW. The company's i-range of vehicles, consisting of the i8 and i3 have already landed locally, so there is indeed a market for such cars. Therefore, adding the likes of the X3 and MINI's makes sense.

Mercedes-Benz also detailed its Generation EQ plans at the Paris Motor Show, which now sees the two German car manufacturers likely going head to head once again, this time in the EV space. With a small number of car charging stations in the country at the moment, hopefully an influx of electric cars will lead to better infrastructure for EVs to been more frequently on our roads.
