One way to tell when the year is heading towards its final stretch is when Canon SA’s next expo is virtually around the corner. That, however, is exactly the case, as Canon SA has now confirmed that the expo will be running from 10am to 6pm on the 29th of November to the 1st of December at a familiar venue - the Sandton Convention centre.

As with previous years, Canon confirmed that entry to the three day expo will be free, and the company has promised products at discounted prices for the duration of the event. However, what specials exactly will be on offer this year will only be announced closer to the time.

Along with being able to interact with Canon experts and products, the expo will similarly offer a lineup of professional photographers who will conduct two speaker sessions that will run simultaneously throughout the day from Friday to Sunday.

And now for something completely new

According to the company, two new highlights will also make their debut this year. The first of these, interactive displays, will apparently showcase the features of select products. Also new this year is the introduction of live training sessions hosted by industry experts. These sessions will be presented daily and will accommodate up to 20 people at a time.

Visitors will also be encouraged to ask any related questions they might have with regards to using their photographic equipment. Attendees interested in these training sessions are advised to bring along their own equipment.

“With each year that we have hosted the expo, it has grown in stature to become one of the most-anticipated and well-attended of its kind,” commented the company’s marketing manager, Michelle Janse van Vuuren.

“We are gearing up for our biggest and best Canon SA Expo yet, with the widest range of products on active display. Visitors can expect to be blown away by the show, our products and our guest speakers this year,” she enthused.

According to Janse van Vuuren, there will once again be a photographic competition, which will run in tandem to the event. This year’s themes will apparently be announced shortly. Aspiring photographers will be invited to enter one or more of the competition categories for a chance of winning prizes (still to be detailed), while the top entries in the competition will then be profiled in a dedicated gallery at the Expo.

To the point

While Canon has not yet announced who the speakers this year will be, if they are the same calibre as last year then we should certainly have much to look forward to. Indeed, last year’s expo was a highlight of the photographic calendar (at least for us), and apparently Canon intends to pull out all the stops this year as well. More information, as it is released, can be found here.
