Comic book creator, painter and musician, Willem Samuel has been on our radar for a long time. His Mengelmoes series of graphic novels has recently come under our attention again, and to entice you to actually buy the series, we’ll be featuring some of the remarkable artwork from each of the volumes over the next few days.

Mengelmoes deals with growing up in Post-Apartheid South Africa, and includes Judge Dredd, bankies, Satanists, rock-n-roll, crushing disappointment, Table Mountain, smoking-busts, double-chin wrapping, and dubious internet browsing. All that in the first volume alone.

For more info on SA-born Samuel, head over to his website, and also take a look at Mengelmoes over here. More importantly, order a copy of each volume online at Readers Den Comic Shop.

Here’s some of the awesome art from Mengelmoes Volume 1.
