It’s been 16 years since we last saw Martin Lawrence and Will Smith partner up in Bad Boys II. Why we had to wait so long for the sequels might have to do with high salaries as well as previous director Michael Bay serving up one Transformers movie after another. But, at long last, here we are with Bad Boys for Life scheduled for a 2020 release.

The trailer opens with a typical Michael Bay pan, and a typical Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) move. From there it’s mostly action interspersed with a bit of comedy - a formula that worked exceptionally well on the previous installments.

Our two heroes are due for retirement but need to work together one last time. This to bring down a Romanian mob boss, whose brother suffered justice under the hands of Burnett and Lowrey. It might be a buddy cop staple, but who cares, at least we are getting the Bad Boys partners together again.

Helming the project is Belgian duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who previous work including Black and Patser, none of which we’re familiar with. The directing duo are also tied to another cop classic - Beverly Hills Cop 4, with Eddie Murphy set to star, although the release date for this is not set yet.

So is Bad Boys for Life more of the same or something unique? Do we really care? Hit play to see the Bad Boys back again.
