Old school Disney fans hold on to your bowler hats. This week has seen two trailers released for upcoming live action movies, both starring familiar Disney characters, namely Mary Poppins and Christopher Robins.

If thinking about bears conjures up an image of the great Pooh, then the name Christopher Robin should be all too familiar. The eponymous movie stars non-other than Obi-Wan Kenobi/ Ewan McGregor in the title role, with some deft animation taking care of Pooh, voiced by long time enunciator Jim Cummings.

Poor older Christopher Robin finds himself in a tizzy thanks to some workplace stress, compounded by the fact that he has started hallucinating about his favourite childhood plaything. The bear and Robin go on a month-long bender which eventually sees them locked up in the Bedlam insane asylum, meeting long time chronic depression sufferer, Eeyore (Brad Garrett, the big bloke from Everybody Loves Raymond). They now have to call in the help of Tigger (voiced by Irishman Chris O’Dowd from the IT Crowd) and Piglet (Nick Mohammed, The Martian) to escape back to Hundred Acre Wood.

OK, so it might be our imagination getting the better of us, but if anyone is interested in this screenplay let us know.

The Mary Poppins Returns teaser doesn’t offer too much, showing us a windswept London town, a ragged kite and what looks at first like Superman appearing from the clouds. Alas, it is Mary Poppins making her return, complete with prim and proper manners and her umbrella. The film is set 20 years after the first, with rascals Jane and Michael Banks all grown up, and facing some adult problems of their own. Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) stars as Poppins, which is as good a reason as any to pique your interest.
