Roche Laboratory debuts automation advancement to improve coagulation diagnostics and patient care

One of the most exciting, and significant, technological advances of our time, is in the biotechnology and health sphere. For this reason, it was with interest that we recently attended an event, held by Roche Diagnostics South Africa.
There they launched two new laboratory products, and also announced that they have expanded Roche’s Coagulation testing offering.
This, as laboratories respond to growing demand for timely, reliable results to support emergency medicine, surgery, critical care, and the ongoing management of patients with bleeding or clotting disorders.
Coagulation testing can help laboratory analysts and doctors assess unexplained bleeding, investigate suspected clotting disorders, monitor anticoagulant treatment and respond to urgent conditions in which delays may affect care.
The company explained that as testing volumes increase and patient pathways become more complex, laboratories are under pressure to deliver accurate results while making the best use of highly specialised staff.
New automation innovations can reduce repetitive manual processes, improve standardisation and support more consistent workflows without removing the judgement and expertise of laboratory professionals.
Coagulation innovation that supports laboratory expertise
Modern coagulation workflows automate steps that have traditionally required significant hands-on time, including reagent preparation, sample checks, quality processes and routine maintenance. This helps reduce avoidable errors and allows laboratory teams to direct more attention to complex testing, interpretation and clinical collaboration.
